Problem:

  • 32 bit Debian packages cannot be installed.

Solution:

  • The ia32-libs packages are missing (should be replaced in the future by multiarch)
  • Run the following commands as root to make the necessary libs available
dpkg --add-architecture i386
apt-get update
apt-get install ia32-libs ia32-libs-gtk
